My mother made mouth watering biscuits nearly every day of her married life. We were so lucky! When, my dad passed away, I think she only made them a few times. It became sort of a lost art. She said she didn't know how to make a good biscuit after that. They are delicious!

Ingredients For mom's biscuits by sharon

vegetable shortening for pan

1 cself-rising flour or 1 cup all-purpose flour plus 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder & 1/2 tsp. salt

3 Tbsplard, vegetable shortening, or butter

1/2 cbuttermilk (maybe a little more for use on top of biscuits)
How To Make mom's biscuits by sharon

1Grease pan with shortening. Preheat oven to 450 degrees.

2Mix flour & lard until it is fairly fine in consistency. Add buttermilk & stir with spoon until well combined. Add enough flour to make dough stick together. Roll out on floured board or waxed paper & cut out.

3Put biscuits in pan. Coat top of each biscuit with buttermilk. Bake until golden brown. Makes approx. 6 biscuits.
