Ingredients

2 c
self rising flour
1/2 c
butter
1 c
ground ham ~ i use country ham
1 1/2 c
shredded, sharp cheddar cheese
1 tsp
dry mustard
1/4 tsp
cayenne pepper ~ optional
3/4 - 1 c
buttermilk or enough to moisten
3 Tbsp
butter, melted

Directions Step-By-Step

Preheat oven to 450 degree F.

Add the flour to a bowl. Cut in 1/2 cup butter with a pastry cutter or fork until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Stir in the ham, mustard, pepper and cheese.

Add the buttermilk; stir until a moist dough forms.

Drop dough by heaping teaspoonfuls onto a lightly greased baking sheet.

Bake for 10 - 13 minutes, or until lightly golden.

Brush with melted butter.
