1Preheat your oven to 400°F.
2Combine the dry ingredients in a bowl. Cut in the shortening with a fork to a fine consistency.
3Add the buttermilk and mix, without over mixing. Dough should be a little sticky. Dust hands with flour and pinch off balls a little bigger than a golf ball. Roll between hands, slightly flatten and place on a lightly greased baking sheet.
4Cook until browned, 15-18 minutes.
