Sweet Potato Biscuits



A friend is making a Thanksgiving brunch and asked me for some ideas.This is one of the recipes I gave her ,I usually make sweet potato biscuits when I have left over sweet potatoes from making pies.My family likes to make sandwiches with sliced ham and sweet potato biscuits.
I usually pat my biscuit dougn in a rectangle and cut into squares.

pinch tips: How to Debone a Chicken


1 c
all purpose flour
3 tsp
baking powder
2 tsp
brown sugar
1 tsp
1/2 tsp
3 Tbsp
3/4 c
cooked mashed sweet potatoes
1/4 c

Directions Step-By-Step

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees
In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder, sugar,salt and nutmeg. Cut in the shortening until pieces of shortening are pea-sized
or smaller. Mix in the sweet potatoes, and enough of the milk to make
a soft dough.

Turn dough out onto a floured surface, and pat out to 3/4 inch
thickness. Cut into circles using a biscuit cutter or cut into 2 inch squares. Place biscuits 1 inch apart onto a greased baking sheet.
Option:brush melted butter on top of biscuits and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden brown.
