Grandma used this recipe for biscuits her wonderful home made biscuits that we often ate warm with home made butter and fresh honey. They were also great warm with fresh strawberries and whipped cream.

Ingredients For fluffy biscuits- grandma's recipe

  • 2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 4 tsp
    baking powder (be sure it is fresh for best results)
  • 3 tsp
    sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 c
    shortening
  • 1
    egg
  • 2/3 c
    milk

How To Make fluffy biscuits- grandma's recipe

    Preheat oven to 450 degrees. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. Cut in shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Beat egg with milk. Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened.

    Turn onto a well-floured surface. Knead 10-20 times. Roll dough out to 3/4 inch thickness. Cut with a floured 2-1/2 inch biscuit (or round cookie) cutter. Place on a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 450 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
