Fried Green Tomatoes
Just not summer without Fried Green Tomatoes! The cornmeal gives these a bit more of a crunch!
- 4 medium
- green tomatoes
- 1 1/2 c
- all purpose flour
- 1/2 c
- 1 large
- egg beaten with 1/2 cup water
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 Tbsp
- bacon drippings
- 1/4 c
- vegetable oil
1Wash and slice tomatoes to 1/4 inch thinkness.
2Fill ziplock bag with flour and cornmeal.
3Mix the beaten egg with 1/2 cup cold water.
4Heat bacon drippings with oil to a frying temp
5Dip several slices of tomatoe into egg mixture then into the flour mixture to coat. Add your salt and pepper and fry until tomatoes are tender and breading is a golden brown
