How To Make chili cheese fries

  • 1
In a Dutch oven over medium heat, add oil. When it shimmers, add onions and season with ground sea salt. Sauté until they soften, about 1 ½ to 2 minutes.
  • 2
Add red peppers and jalapeño peppers; sauté them for 3 minutes.
  • 3
Add pressed garlic and quickly sauté for only 30 seconds.
  • 4
Add ground beef and break it into small pieces. Cook the meat halfway before seasoning with freshly ground black pepper; cook until no longer pink.
  • 5
Add the tomato paste and stir to coat.
  • 6
Add tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, kidney beans, chipotle chili powder, brown sugar, ground cumin, oregano, Worcestershire sauce and hot sauce. Stir to combine before pouring in beef broth; stir again.
  • 7
Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer gently for 1:15 to 1:30 hours or until the chili thickens, stirring often.
  • 8
About 20 minutes before the cooking time is over, make the Cheddar Cheese Sauce.
  • 9
When the chili is done, spoon a generous amount on the fries, drizzle the Cheddar Cheese Sauce over and top with a big dollop of sour cream; garnish with green onions.
