stephanie's Story

We love the pub cheese at Trader Joe's but didn't want to drive to get it so I hopped in the kitchen to see if I could recreate it. A friend says she likes this one better. We like the strong horseradish taste but adjust all the seasonings to your preference.

Blue Ribbon Recipe

Notes from the Test Kitchen:
I love cheddar, horseradish AND dip, so I was hopeful that Stephanie's recipe would be as good as it sounded... and turns out it is! This would be a great (and addictive!) choice for your next get-together.

Ingredients

8 oz
softened cream cheese
4 c
sharp chedder cheese, grated
1 Tbsp
mustard
3 Tbsp
horseradish
1/2 c
stout ale
1 pinch
cayenne pepper
Tbsp
vinegar
2 dash(es)
tabasco
1 pinch
ground black pepper

Directions Step-By-Step

1
Add all ingredients into a food processor and blend until smooth. Adjust seasonings to taste.

Another alternative to crackers is to buy a French bread baguette. Slice into very thin slices and put on a foil covered cookie sheet. Spray lightly with a vegetable oil type spray and toast in oven til golden brown. That's how a local pub I know serves their pub cheese

Looking forward to trying this on Saturday when we have my brother and his wife over for an early Thanksgiving dinner. Hubby requested this - saw the printed recipe on the table. I'm using crackers I made - they are pretty sturdy. If they go well with the spread, I will post the recipe. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!
