Heather's Notes:

A lady at my church made these for snacks for the VBS leaders last summer and I fell head-over-heels for them! They are amazing! So sweet and creamy, they just melt in your mouth!

Yummy! These bars are little slices of pure delight. We can't wait to make them again... and maybe even try experimenting with lemon or orange flavors in place of the almond!

Directions

1
Mix and press crust ingredients into a greased 9x13 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
2
Meanwhile, beat cream cheese and sugar for the filling with an electric mixer until smooth. Add the rest of the filling ingredients and beat until just mixed. Pour filling mixture over crust and bake for another 15 minutes.
3
Combine all frosting ingredients with a mixer. Frost bars when they are cool and top with sliced almonds, if desired. Cut into 24 squares and serve immediately or serve chilled. Store in refrigerator.
4
*These bars freeze very well!

You are welcome! I hope you get a chance to make them! They are one of my fave desserts and I'm a choco-holic! That's how good these things are! Next time I make them I'm going to try lemon extract!

I know what you mean. I'm a chocoholic too and when I find a dessert I love that doesn't have chocolate in it - that's saying something. I will definitely try these soon!

I made this recipe using lemon extract instead of almond and it is good, but I still prefer the almond version! It tastes more rich and decadent! Another flavor I think might taste good is pecan praline flavoring!

I don't have any almond extract or almonds...only vanilla extract. Any suggestions?

Can't wait to make these. They look scrumptious! Wonder if there's any way to make them lower calorie other than the low-fat cream cheese? Of course, I wouldn't want to mess with the delicious taste so maybe I'll just make them regular and enjoy just a little piece at a time!! Thanks for sharing--congrats. of the blue ribbon!
