Dana's Notes:
French market soup is hearty, meaty, full of flavor and versatile. It's perfect for Christmas Eve get-togethers with family! I also use it to meet all of my late mother's Southern "good luck" menu requirements for New Year's Day.

Comments from the Test Kitchen:
This soup is so good.  It cooked all day and made the house smell simply wonderful.  We all went back for seconds... In fact, my son and grandson both wanted to take it for lunch the next day!

I really want to try this, it sound yummy!!! Do I add the raw chicken into the pot with the beans, or do I cook the chicken in a different pot and then add once done?

Hi Jennifer--just add the raw chicken to the pot--when it falls off the bone, the soup is done! Test while you stir opccasionally to keep the soup from scorching on the bottom.

I make something similar to this for New Year's day. I just use black-eyed peas and the left over ham and ham bone. But, I like your idea of using the 15 bean, turkey sausage and chicken. Very hearty. Yummy! Can't wait to try your recipe.

I made a version of this but I use smoked turkey instead of ham. LOVE It!

My husband likes to cook big pots of soup (lucky me) when the weather gets cool. He asked me yesterday if I'd like him to make soup this weekend. So, I said, you bet! Would you be willing to try a new recipe? He took a look at the recipe and said, hmmm, this looks promising. It was just scrumptious! Keep those soup recipes coming! ;-}

My husband and I had this for supper last night, and it was very good. It is a very thick soup. Due to working a full-time job, I had to cook it over a couple of days, but it was worth it! My husband suggests serving it with a pan of warm cornbread.
