This was a favorite when I was growing up!! We rarely had meat but when we did, we sure loved the bold flavors this marinade brought out!!

We raise our own beef and it's made us beef purists. We never enjoy any marinades on our steak because it masks the flavor of the beef. The only seasoning I ever use is Cavendar's. However, I tried this on some sirloin tonight. I was careful not to let it marinate too long. It was good!!! Congrats on your BLUE!!!

The commercial Spice Island version of "Beau Monde" seasoning lists its ingredients as: salt, dextrose, onion, celery salt, and silicon dioxide. It contains no cinnamon, cloves, allspice, nutmeg, pepper or bay leaves so I don't think it would be a good substitute for the ingredients listed in the recipe. It looks great just the way it's written.

Kathie Nist: no subtitutes other than buy online? As far as I remember, beau monde is a seasoning you can purchase without having to mix it up yourself. I would have to Google that one though. Boy...substitution for Kitchen Bouquet would be rough...ingredients couldn't be duplicated. It is a liquid. Ingredients as listed: caramel, vegetable base, water, onions, celery, parsnips, turnips, salt, parsley, spices, etc...see what I mean?
I can't think of anything that would take it's place. Try Amazon they have everything :)
OH does a lot more than just give a brown color. Lots of flavor but it is VERY concentrated so I wouldn't suggest taking a swig!
