    fresh green beans, trimmed and cut into 1- inch pieces
  • 3/4 c
    frozen whole kernel corn
  • 2/3 c
    uncooked barley
  • 2 can
    (14 1/2 ounce each) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 can
    (8 ounce) tomato sauce
  • 5 c
    (40 ounce) beef broth
  • 1/2 c
    water
  • 3 tsp
    balsamic vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp
    chopped fresh or 1 1/2 teaspoons dried thyme leaves
  • 3/4 tsp
    pepper
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
