My family really enjoys this soup. It is quick and easy to make. I like to make it using left over ham from Christmas or Easter.

Ingredients For bean soup

2 jargreat northern beans (large jars)

1large onion, chopped
-
1-2 canstewed tomatoes, chopped

1 ccooked ham or more to your liking, chopped

brown sugar to taste

salt and pepper to taste

hot sauce to taste, i use red hot or texas pete

2 boxchicken broth, low salt

oil

1 cloveminced garlic more or less to your liking
How To Make bean soup

1Saute garlic and onion in oil

2Add chicken broth, beans, stewed tomatoes, ham, brown sugar, salt and pepper, and hot sauce. Bring to boil then reduce to a simmer stirring occasionally. Until heated through and soup thickens.

3I usually smash the beans a little to release the starch to help thicken the soup.
