best ever tomato sauce
No Image
Not even sure where I happened to come across this recipe, but I was looking for a tomato sauce for my stuffed cabbage rolls. My DH said this was the only sauce he ever wanted me to use {he says that about a lot of the things I cook, LOL}. This works great for cabbage rolls, stuffed green peppers, or pretty much any casserole/hotdish/goulash that needs a red sauce.

Ingredients For best ever tomato sauce
-
1 can8oz tomato sauce
-
1 can6oz tomato paste
-
1 Tbspbrown sugar, firmly packed
-
1 Tbsplemon juice
-
1 tspworcestershire sauce {more is not a bad thing, a teaspoon is a starting point}
-
1 can28oz tomatoes
-
1-3whole bay leaves
How To Make best ever tomato sauce
-
1Mix all together and cook out the flavor of the canned tomato products.
-
2Can cut a carrot into sticks & replace the brown sugar. Adds a deeper richer flavor & tends to stick/burn less than the sugar does. Tastes great too if you want to eat the softened cooked carrot.
-
3Bay leaves can be ground up in a spice/coffee grinder & added to the sauce in place of the whole leaf(s).
