I created this delicious cheeseburger casserole recipe, based on The Cheese and Burger society, for the people in New Orleans, filled with fried shrimp and Wisconsin gruyere. I created a creole mustard cheese sauce in the casserole.

2 cfried shrimp

2 tspcajun seasoning, divided

10 ozdry penne pasta

2 Tbspolive oil

1vidalia onion, peeled and finely chopped

3 clovegarlic, finely chopped

2 lblean ground beef

1 tspseasoned pepper
-
2 cshredded Wisconsin gruyere cheese
- CREOLE MUSTARD CHEESE SAUCE

1 cheavy cream
-
1 cancondensed cheddar cheese soup
-
8 ozcream cheese, softened
-
2 Tbspcreole mustard
How To Make new orleans burger casserole

1Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

2Coat a 9 x 13-inch baking dish with cooking spray. Add leftover fried shrimp to the baking dish. Season with half the cajun seasoning.

3Cook penne pasta according to package directions; drain.

4For the creole mustard cheese sauce, combine heavy cream, soup, cream cheese and creole mustard in a medium bowl. Whisk together until blended.

5In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium-low heat. Add the onions and cook until soft. Stir in the garlic and cook for 30 minutes.

6Stir in the beef and cook until browned; season with remaining creole seasoning and seasoned pepper. Add creole mustard cheese sauce. Let the mixture bubble until it is slightly thickened, about 5 minutes.

7Toss the meat mixture with cooked pasta and pour into the prepared baking dish. Top with shredded gruyere cheese. Bake until the cheese is melted, about 25 minutes.
