I like these cookies because they are rolled in a mocha cinnamon sugar mixture. However, if you are not a fan of coffee you can just omit it and use regular cinnamon sugar instead.

Ingredients For new mexican chocolate crinkles

  • 1 c
    plus 6 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 5 Tbsp
    butter or margarine
  • 1 c
    brown sugar, packed
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 3
    squares unsweetened chocolate, melted
  • 1/4 c
    granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/2
    to 1 tsp instant coffee (optional)

How To Make new mexican chocolate crinkles

    Combine flour, baking powder, and cinnamon. In a separate bowl, beat the brown sugar and butter together until creamy. Beat in the eggs and blend.

    Add vanilla and chocolate. Mix evenly. Gradually add the flour mixture to the chocolate mixture. Form into a soft dough.

    Chill until the dough can be handled. Shape dough into 1 inch balls. Roll balls in remaining sugar, cinnamon, and coffee.

    Place cookies on a greased cookie sheet. Bake for 12 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool cookies for a minute on sheet before transferring to a rack to cool.
