Dough should make about 3-3 1/2 dozen cookies depending on how thick dough is rolled or sliced. These cookies are delicious plain but feel free to add finely chopped pecans. This recipe is from the early 1800's. Tea leaves have been used through history to make a drink (tea) and also added to homemade breads, cakes and cookies.

Mix all the dry ingredients, including tea leaves and set aside. Cream butter and sugar in mixing bowl. Add eggs one at a time and keep mixing. Keep mixing and add vanilla and gradually add dry ingredients a little at a time until all has been mixed in well. Roll cookie dough out on a mat or table with a small amount of flour if needed and cut out cookies to desired shapes. If you like, make one or two logs about 1 1/2 inches in diameter and chill at least 4 hours or overnight. You can then slice off cookies to bake. Slice about 1/4 inch in thickness. Place on greased cookie sheet. Cookies may spread a little so allow at least an inch between cookies. Bake 350 for 15-20 minutes. Check at 15 minutes to make sure you don't burn them since oven temps vary.
