My sweet Aunt Rosey makes this cake. I'm not crazy about dates but this cake has chocolate chips too! It is very good.

Ingredients For date cake

1 c

boiling water
1 c

chopped dates
1 c

sugar
1 tsp

soda
1/2 tsp

salt
1 3/4 c

flour
2 tsp

cocoa powder
1

egg
1 c

oil
1 tsp

vanilla
1 c

chocolate chips
1 c

chopped nuts

How To Make date cake

Pour boiling water over the chopped dates. Let stand while measuring dry ingredients.

Mix dry ingredients (sugar, soda, salt, cocoa and flour)

Add in to dry mixture the oil, egg and vanilla. Mix together then add and stir in date mixture to cake mix.

Pour into greased 13 x 9 cake pan. Add on top of mix the 1 cup of choc. chips and 1 cup of chopped nuts (DO NOT MIX). Bake at 350* for 30 to 35 minutes.
