My mother had been making this cake for years before I started baking. Her church asks for it everytime they have a covered dish meal. Be careful not to overbake it as that will make it dry. Enjoy!

Ingredients For chocolate pound cake

  • 2 stick
    butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/2 c
    shortening
  • 3 c
    sugar
  • 5
    eggs
  • 1/2 c
    cocoa
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 3 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 c
    milk
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla

How To Make chocolate pound cake

  • 1
    Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Cream butter, shortening and sugar until creamy. Add eggs one at a time. Sift cocoa, baking powder and flour together. Alternately add flour mixture and milk, blending well between each addition. Add in vanilla and mix well. Pour into a large angel food pan (the one piece kind) and bake for 2 hours at 300 degrees.
