I first had this cake at a restaurant in Houston several years ago and loved it. One day the cake sounded so good, so I looked online for a recipe. Baking from scratch is not my forte, so I decided to cheat. It turned out great. I've been making it ever since with the Duncan Hines box mix. I even put it in a charity auction, and it sold for $25. My friends and family love it, and it couldn't be easier.

This shortcut tres leches cake recipe is a delicious treat. Yellow cake is the base that soaks up the condensed milk, evaporated milk, and heavy whipping cream. The combination of milk creates a moist and decadent cake. Topped with a layer of Cool Whip, it adds a light and creamy finish to this indulgent dessert.

  • 1 box
    Duncan Hines butter recipe yellow cake mix
  • 1 c
    water
  • 3 lg
    eggs
  • 1/3 c
    vegetable oil
  • 1 can
    Eagle brand condensed milk (14 oz)
  • 1 can
    evaporated milk (12 oz)
  • 1 pt
    heavy whipping cream
  • 8 oz
    Cool Whip

  • Bake cake according to package directions in a 13x9 pan.
