Enjoy this quick and tasty sausage rigatoni recipe with creamy homemade marinara sauce and freshly grated Parmesan cheese. It only takes 30 minutes to make and will surely be a hit with the whole family.

Ingredients For sausage rigatoni

  • 12 oz
    rigatoni pasta
  • 1 lb
    Italian sausage
  • 1 sm
    onion, chopped
  • 2 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp
    Italian seasoning
  • 1 can
    crushed tomatoes (28 oz)
  • 2-3 pinch
    red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 c
    heavy cream
  • kosher salt, to taste
  • freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 Tbsp
    freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • chopped or torn fresh basil

How To Make sausage rigatoni

  • 1
    Bring a large pot of salted water to boil. Add the pasta and cook al dente according to package instructions. Reserve 1 cup pasta water and drain the pasta well.

    Meanwhile, in a large skillet over medium heat, brown the Italian sausage. About halfway through the browning process, add the onion. Cook until the sausage is browned and the onion is soft. Drain any excess grease from the skillet.

    Reduce the heat to low, add the garlic and Italian seasoning, and cook for 1 minute

    Add the crushed tomatoes and red pepper flakes and simmer for 8-10 minutes. Stir in the heavy cream and the cooked pasta.

    Season with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil.
