Thanks, Brenda. Another idea.....we have a health food store that sells spices, and they are actually cheaper than the stores!

Thank you Bonnie! Yes, the garlic salt and garlic powder and minced (fresh) onions does sound very delicious. I am going to try this variation also, since it does sound good. Yes, I am going to check out Walmart, since Ive checked a couple of stores already and to no avail. The Chives and Dill Weed did taste very good also, but am not sure in comparison to the Dried Onion and Dill Seed variation, since I am having difficulty finding them in my local supermarkets, but will be still trying, if not then I will go to an online spice store. I have read that some members only purchase their spices online..but cant recall which comments I read them in, since its been awhile. Thank you again, and let me know how the garlic and onion in the bread goes and tastes, but I am sure it is good! Also, I found your Shepherds pie recipe, and have printed it, thank you for this recipe also.

Brenda, Donna said she used 1 teaspoon garlic salt for the salt in the recipe, 1 teaspoon garlic powder and 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 teaspoons minced onions. Note that she didn't say the onions were dried. Both would probably work. I can't wait to try that variation!♥

I will get back to you on the amounts of the powdered garlic and garlic salt and minced dried onions that she used. You can find instant dried onions in the spice section, not lipton soups. Also, there is dill seed there, too. Lots of flavor in it. Check Walmart; it is fairly common, maybe hard to spot.

That does sound delicious, and is a good idea..I am going to try garlic also. Did she use fresh garlic, dried, or powder? Also, I do have a question: I used 'chives' (spice) and 'dill weed' in the dill and onion bread. It turned out to be absolutely delicious, but was not certain if I used the correct two spices. Last night, when I was in the Target grocery store, I looked at the spices, but could not find dill seeds or instant dried onion spices, so purchased the dried onion for soup mix (or french onion dips). Is this the correct 'instant dried onion' as the recipe calls for regarding this bread. or is it in the spice section? Also, I could not find the dill seeds, but used dill weed...where do I find dill seeds? I have looked at Publix and Target stores for both spices, but to no avail. Maybe they are called different names in our section, or, should I purchase from an online store? If online store, do you know a good one? Thank you so much!

You are very welcome Bonnie...and also Thank you! Yes, we are really enjoying them today. The bread is so delicious, periodically all day long (today), everyone has been walking into the kitchen and cutting a slice of either the white or dill & onion casserole breads. I think both bread recipe's are going to be on my list of favorites when baking breads. I was thinking about experimenting and trying to add other ingredients, such as diced-up pepperoni & dried tomato's, or sunflower seeds, or cheeses, etc. I added a couple slices of the dill & onion casserole bread to the toaster and then buttered them, wow were they good! Yes, thank you, I will say hi to my mother, when I pack up the two loaves of breads and ship them to her (after baking them).

I prepared both white bread caserrole and dill and onion caserrole breads at the same time. I first prepared the white bread dough (recipe) and set it aside while preparing the dill and onion bread dough (recipe), then I raised them the first and second time's, and then baked both of them in the same oven..it was fast and very easy...and they both turned out great! They are delicious! Although the white casserole bread is very delicious, maybe due to the spices, but my family including myself really find the dill and onion flavor very delicious. Sometimes I postal send bread's to my mother who lives in West Virginia, just for a surprise, since she loves homemade bread's. I am going to probably bake both white and dill and onion caserrole breads and send them to her. I know she is going to love them. Thank you again for sharing...Love you!

Wow, your bread in the photo looks beautiful! I am going to bake the onion and dill recipe and then bake this one in the near future. The onion and dill sounds delicious. I notice there is cottage cheese in the recipe..I just purchased the cottage cheese and will be baking it probably tonight. Thank you for sharing both the onion and dill and white bread recipes!
