As many have said, I’ve been baking this cake for many years. My only difference is that I make peanut butter frosting. Oh. My. Word. Best chocolate cake ever!
I’ve made this cake multiple times in the last several years and while I don’t bake often, this is my go to chocolate cake recipe. It’s also the one my family asks for by name! I use freshly ground espresso for the coffee, and I also use cake flour and a sprinkle of cinnamon to add to the depth of flavor. Great quality cocoa is a MUST! I use Ghiradelli and the flavor is great! I don’t understand the issues other readers have had, but I personally believe that the quality of ingredients can make or break any recipe. As I said, I’m not a frequent baker, but I’ve never had a single issue with this cake!
