INGREDIENTS

3/4 cup cornmeal

1/3 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup onion, diced (can be regular or green onions)
•
1/2 teaspoon salt
•
Pinch of cayenne ( optional)
•
1 egg (Optional)
•
1/2 cup buttermilk or beer( room temp beer makes then lighter and fluffier)
•
1 cup cooking oil (I use Canola)
