Another hit with my family! A nice thick, hearty chili. A great meal for all the cold days everyone's been experiencing. Enjoy!

Ingredients For ~ just another tasty chili ~ cassies

  • 1 - 2 Tbsp
    bacon fat for browning meat - oil if you don't have
  • 1/2 lb
    each - sausage & ground beef - more if you like it meatier
  • 1 sm
    chopped onion
  • 1/2 c
    each - chopped, red bell pepper - chopped green bell pepper
  • 2 Tbsp
    flour & chili powder
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp
    minced, dried garlic flakes
  • 1 Tbsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    ground cumin
  • 1 tsp
    each - cayenne, salt, crushed red pepper & sugar
  • 2 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1 - 15 oz
    cans of each - dark red kidney beans ( rinsed ) - pinto beans( rinsed ) - chili beans
  • 1 - 28 oz
    can - plum tomatoes and juice - chopped
  • 1 - 15 oz
    tomato sauce
  • 1/2 c
    each - strong black coffee & water
  • condiments
    to serve with - sour cream, shredded cheese, green onion

How To Make ~ just another tasty chili ~ cassies

    In a dutch oven, brown onion, peppers, sausage and ground beef in 1 - 2 tablespoon of bacon fat, until meat is no longer pink. Drain, and add back to pot.

    Stir in the chopped tomatoes,tomato sauce, all spices, flour, Worcestershire sauce, beans, coffee and stir to combine. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 1 hour - stirring occasionally.

    Taste and adjust seasonings if desired. It should be pretty thick, add 1/2 cup or more water to thin out if desired.

    Ladle into bowls and add favorite condiments. As with any good chili, is even better the next day. Enjoy!
