Ingredients

  • 2 c
    red lentils
  • 1/4 c
    rice, raw
  • 7 c
    water, approximately
  • 1 large
    onion, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp
    flour
  • 1/4 c
    olive oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    cumin
  • ·
    lemon juice to taste
  • ·
    salt & pepper to taste

How to Make Red Lentil Soup

Step-by-Step

  1. Place lentils, rice & onions with water into a soup pot & bring to a boil.
  2. Cover & simmer for about an hour.
  3. Mix oil, flour, salt, pepper & cumin in bowl.
  4. Add a ladelful of soup to mixture & mix well.
  5. Pour the mixture into the soup & let simmer until the lentils are well cooked.
  6. Serve with a sprinkling of lemon juice and crackers.
