This is simply the result of my wanting soup and barbecue at the same time. Please let me know what you think of it and how you've tweaked it.

Ingredients For barbecue soup

  • 2
    cubes beef bouillon
  • 1 1/4 c
    water
  • 1/4 tsp
    smokehouse pepper
  • 1/4 tsp
    onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    smoked paprika
  • 15 oz
    tomato sauce
  • 1/2 tsp
    vinegar
  • 1/4 tsp
    granulated garlic
  • 1 Tbsp
    dry minced onion
  • 1/2 c
    1/4" cubes of potato
  • 8 oz
    leftover bbq brisket, sausage, &/or chicken
  • 3/4 c
    ranch style beans or leftover pinto beans

How To Make barbecue soup

  • 1
    Dissolve bouillon cubes in 1 c. boiling water. Stir in tomato sauce and vinegar. Use remaining water to rinse tomato sauce can, then add this water to the mixture.

    In a 1.5-quart crock pot, combine all ingredients EXCEPT beans. Cover and cook on low 6 - 8 hours.

    Before serving, stir beans into soup or place some in each bowl before ladling the soup into it; stir to combine.

    Consider adding 1/2 c. corn to soup or maybe topping with shredded cheddar cheese.
