Split Pea Soup with Ham

This is an easy soup recipe. I like to just combine the ingredients in the crock pot and go about my day. Add garlic bread and a salad and your meal is complete.

Slow Cooker Crock Pot


  • 2 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 3
    carrots, diced
  • 3
    celery stalks, diced
  • 1
    large onion, diced
  • 3
    cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp
    black pepper
  • 1 tsp
    dried thyme
  • 8 c
    chicken broth
  • 4 c
    diced ham
  • 20 oz
    bag hurst's green split peas with ham flavor

How to Make Split Pea Soup with Ham


  1. Saute carrots, celery and onion in olive oil for 3 minutes, then add garlic and continue to saute for additional 2 minutes. Add pepper, thyme, broth, ham, split peas (with seasoning packet) and stir well.
  2. Bring to a boil then reduce to medium-low heat, cover and simmer for 45-60 minutes or until peas are tender.
  3. Instead of cooking on top of stove, you may put all ingredients in crock pot and cook on low 7-8 hours.
