Halloween is here and there's nothing more fun than making your own treats with your kids! These homemade chocolate bars taste just like the ones you buy from the store without the preservatives!

Ingredients For grandma’s crunchie bars

  • butter, as needed for silicon mold
  • 3/4 c
    granulated sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    light corn syrup
  • 2 Tbsp
    honey
  • 1 Tbsp
    water
  • 1 tsp
    pure vanilla extract
  • 1 Tbsp
    baking soda
  • 2/3 c
    milk or semi-sweet chocolate, melted

How To Make grandma’s crunchie bars

    Lightly grease a silicon mold with butter; set aside.

    In a large pot, add sugar corn syrup and honey. Turn heat to medium-low and cook, stirring constantly, until sugar starts to dissolved. When mixture gets very sticky, add water; until until smooth.

    Bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce heat to medium and simmer, stirring often. Cook until it reaches 275ºF to 300ºF. Remove from the heat and add vanilla extract and baking soda; stir immediately. The mixture will expand while stirring.

    Quickly transfer the mixture into the prepared silicon mold (don’t even out otherwise air bubbles will be removed). Let it sit until it hardens, about 6 to 7 hours.

    Unmold the bars and dip each in melted chocolate, coating well. Transfer them on a wire rack sits on a baking sheet lined with wax paper. Transfer to the refrigerator until chocolate gets hard, about 1 hour.
