This is always a big hit. My mom gave me this recipe. Not a regular because of the bacon grease, little too much cholesterol to be a staple. Always a holiday dish.

How to Make Saucy Northern Beans

Step-by-Step

  1. In large skillet fry the bacon, place pieces on paper towel to drain. Cut into pieces.
    SAVE THE BACON GREASE!!
  2. Pour beans into large mixing bowl. Add brown and ketchup to taste. Mix together well. Add the bacon grease and mix well. Add the bacon pieces and mix well.
  3. Pour beans into 9"x13" baking dish. If sauce is grainy add a little water, but not enough to make sauce too runny. Cover with foil.
