Ingredients For new england style cabbage

  • 1 kg
    head of cabbage, cored, cut into 6 wedges
  • 1 lg
    onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 lg
    green bell pepper, thinly sliced into rings
  • 1 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1
    28 oz can whole tomatoes, drained, broken up
  • 1/8 tsp
    each salt & pepper
  • 1 c
    reduced-fat, shredded cheddar cheese.

How To Make new england style cabbage

  • 1
    Heat oven to 350. Spray a 9" x 13" baking pan w/ cooking spray.Place cabbage in lg pot, add 1" salted water. Cover, boil 10 mins.

    In lg saucepan over medium heat, cook onion, green bell pepper, sugar and butter until veggies are tender. Stirring constantly. Stir in tomatoes, salt and pepper.

    Drain cabbage and place evenly in pan. Pour veggie mix over cabbage.Sprinkle cabbage and veggies w/ cheese. Bake about 25 min, or until heated through.
