I think this slaw tastes just like the slaw from LJS' although my mother in law says it's even better! I found this recipe by doing an online search.It's originally from one of the resturaunt secrets revealed cookbooks.

Ingredients For long john silver's coleslaw

  • 8 c
    very finely chopped cabbage (1 head)
  • 1/4 c
    shredded carrot
  • 2 Tbsp
    minced onion
  • 1/3 c
    granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/8 tsp
    pepper
  • 1/4 c
    milk
  • 1/2 c
    mayonnaise
  • 1/4 c
    buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp
    apple cider vinegar
  • 2 1/2 tsp
    lemon juice

How To Make long john silver's coleslaw

    Be sure that the cabbage, carrots, and onion are chopped up into very fine pieces (about the size of rice kernels). (NOT REQUIRED, I DIDN'T)

    Combine the sugar, salt pepper, milk, mayonnaise, buttermilk, vinegar, and lemon juice, and beat until smooth.

    Add the cabbage, carrots, and onions. Mix well.

    The critical part of this cole slaw recipe is the flavor-enhancement period prior to eating. Be absolutely certain the cole slaw sits in the refrigerator for at least a couple of hours prior to serving.
