Ingredients For janet's favorite spinach

  • 2 pkg
    frozen chopped spinach, cooked and drained reserving liquid
  • 4 Tbsp
    butter
  • 2 Tbsp
    flour
  • 2 Tbsp
    chopped onion
  • 1/2 c
    reserved spinach liquid
  • 1/2 c
    evaporated milk
  • 1/2 tsp
    black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 3/4 tsp
    celery powder
  • 3/4 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1 tsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • crushed red pepper. to taste
  • 6 oz
    grated jalapeno jack cheese
  • seasoned bread crumbs

How To Make janet's favorite spinach

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a small baking dish or casserole dish.

    Melt the butter over low heat. Add onions and cook until softened. Add flour and stir until smooth and bubbly.

    Add the spinach liquid and evaporated milk and cook until thick stirring constantly. Add pepper, salt, celery powder, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, crushed red pepper, and cheese. Stir until melted.

    Add spinach and blend very well. Pour into a greased baking dish or casserole and top with breadcrumbs. Bake for 30 minutes. May be frozen.
