Okay, this is a simple one, but these potatoes go so well with pork dishes, I thought that I would throw it out there. It’s just five ingredients, but understand that since we’re not using any butter… these babies are low fat. So, you ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

Ingredients For low fat horseradish mash potatoes

  • 1 1/2 lb
    potatoes, golden variety
  • 1/2 c
    low fat milk, or buttermilk
  • 1 Tbsp
    fresh horseradish
  • black pepper, freshly ground, to taste
  • kosher salt, to taste

How To Make low fat horseradish mash potatoes

    Start with 1.5 pounds of golden potatoes.

    Boil the potatoes with the skins on until tender, about 30 to 40 minutes

    Chef’s Tip: When you can insert a pairing knife into the potato without resistance, they are ready.

    Chef’s Tip: One of the items in my test kitchen that I use quite a lot is a good potato ricer. It rices the potatoes, and removes the skins, at the same time.

    Mash together with the remainder of the ingredients, and serve warm.
