My Grandmother all way's made this recipe,for Thankgiving,Christmas,and Easter Sunday.When she became to ill to cook she made sure ,I took over the holiday cooking .One of my twin brothers,all way,s ask's for this as his choice of a dish....As I put it together and put it in the oven ,I still can see her as she fixed this dish....Some how it does not taste quite the same as when she made it for us all those years ago..

Ingredients For granny's sweet potato casserole

  • 3 c
    mashed sweet potatoes-( i used canned whole one's drain well)
  • 1/2 stick
    real butter-melted
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 Tbsp
    good vanilla extract
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 c
    of half and half cream
  • 2 lg
    eggs -beaten
  • TOPPING FOR CASSEROLE
  • 1 1/4 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/2 stick
    butter soften (use real butter)
  • 1/3 c
    flour (i use self rising)
  • 1 c
    chopped pecans or walnuts

How To Make granny's sweet potato casserole

    Mix the mashed Sweet Potatoes ,butter,salt vanilla extract,sugar,milk,and the beaten eggs together and pour into a casserole dish that has been sprayed with non stick spray....Then MIX the topping and spread on top of the Sweet Potatoe Casserole .Bake at 350 degrees and Bake for 35 to 40 minutes ...

    Pour Sweet Potatoe mixer into casserole dish.

    Mix topping for casserole.

    Sprinkle mixed topping over the casserole and bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes.

    After it comes out of the oven, let it set for 20 to 25 minutes before serving.
