Happy New Year 2012! This is our traditional meal for New Year's Day for my family and my husband's family too. Sometimes it is a pork roast in the crockpot and other times it's country style ribs like these. I look forward to this meal as my husband doesn't like kraut so I really relish it when I can get it. My Dad made barbecue ribs separately for my husband. (He is so spoiled.) haha Now, I have another "Ancient Debelak Recipe" at least that's what my Dad calls all his recipes. LOL

Season ribs with salt, pepper and Italian seasoning and sear your ribs in a countertop electric skillet or cooker in a little bit of oil till brown. Now, cook your ribs and onions on medium heat 300 degrees (in same pan) and add water as needed about 1 1/2 to 2 hrs till tender. Add the other seasonings at this time to the ribs that are cooking in pan. Then put your kraut in and let it come to a boil and then turn back down heat and let simmer for 15 minutes.
