Ingredients For basic mashed potatoes

  • 2 lb
    baking or all-purpose potatoes (peeled or not)
  • 3/4 c
    milk
  • 3/4 c
    butter
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    pepper

How To Make basic mashed potatoes

  • Potatoes covered with water in a pot.

    Cook potatoes in water to cover 25 to 30 minutes until tender.
  • Potatoes drained, mashed and milk, butter, salt, and pepper added.

    Drain and mash with milk, butter, salt, and pepper. Reheat if necessary before serving.
