The perfect summer recipe for picnics, reunions or summer parties. I'm always asked for the recipe, men especially love these. I always double this recipe as it goes fast. These can be made in a Crock Pot slowly, or if time is a factor, on the stove, in about 1-1/2 hrs. Use a heavy dutch oven type pan. Note: do not eliminate the instant coffee or liquid smoke. They are essential to the rich taste of these beans.

Blue Ribbon Recipe

We love the meat that was added to these slow cooker beans. The ground beef along with red beans make these beans very hearty. These are sweet, without being overly sweet, and have a slight tang. Crumbled bacon on top adds the perfect amount of savoriness. Serve these at your next BBQ for a fuss-free side dish.
