Spice Essentials: Andy’s Good Stuff

Andy Anderson !

This mix is great for just about any situation that calls for a bit of spicing up. Use it on a burger or sandwich, or to amp up the flavor of a bowl of soup… up to you. It has a savory, almost nutty flavor and does not contain any sodium.

I keep some in an empty spice bottle with a shaker top and use it whenever the fit takes me.

So, you ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

    ground coriander
  • 1 tsp

    cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 tsp
    white pepper, freshly ground

How to Make Spice Essentials: Andy’s Good Stuff

  2. If you have an old glass spice bottle with a shaker lid that would be the ideal storage container. Store as you would any other dry spices… In a cool, dry place.
  3. In many ways, I treat this as a base for other spice mixes. For example, in the Summer months I remove most of the heat, and replace it with more lemon zest and sweet paprika; in the Winter months I push up the heat with a combination of black pepper, white pepper, and more cayenne. Have some fun with it.
  4. Gather your ingredients (mise en place).
  5. Mix all the spices together and add to a small bottle with a tight-fitting lid… that is about it.
  7. Use to spice up things like meat, fish, pork, and poultry. My favorite use is sprinkling over a bowl of soup or stew. Enjoy.
  8. Keep the faith, and keep cooking.
