I'm your original do it yourself kind of girl! So when I started making hummus, I thought I can make my own Tahini Paste to use in it. After all the tahini is the most expensive part of the entire recipe for hummus. I have a recipe posted here for hummus as well.

Ingredients For tahini paste

  • 4 c
    sesame seeds
  • 1/3-1/2 c
    vegetable oil

How To Make tahini paste

  • 1
preheat oven to 350. Spread out the sesame seeds on a baking sheet and roast stirring frequently, just shake the pan that works! Bake them for 8 to 10 minutes but DO NOT BROWN THEM!

Remove from the oven and cool, they will be nice and crispy. Place cooled seeds into a food processor and process with oil till it is a smooth paste, about 5 minutes. I start with 1/3 cup oil and add more if needed.

Tahini should be stored in a tightly covered container in the refrigerator for several months.
