I grew up with my Mom serving the canned stuff and thought it was OK but not a big fan. I was served fresh cranberry sauce in a restaurant that was SO good and started my search for a good recipe. I have pulled from several sources and combined their recipes to make my own. I love it.
1Sort cranberries to remove any which have gone bad. Rinse and drain cranberries.
2Combine granulated sugar, orange juice and orange zest in medium sized saucepan over high heat, stirring to dissolve sugar. Bring to a boil.
3Add cranberries and return to a boil. Reduce heat to medium and allow to simmer until it begins to thicken and look saucy and about 2/3 to 3/4 of cranberries have popped open, about 5 minutes. Do not overcook.
4Remove from heat, stir in brown sugar and cinnamon.
5Pour into serving dish and allow to cool to room temperature before serving. Store any leftover in refrigerator.
