I've been making this for years...sometimes using ground beef, or italian sausage or the favorites in our house of ground venison or elk! (from a Quick Cooking recipe)

Ingredients For slow-cooked spaghetti sauce

    ground beef or bulk italian sausage
  • 1
    medium onion, chopped
  • 2 can
    14 1/2 oz-each, diced tomatoes
  • 1 can
    8 oz tomato sauce
  • 1 can
    6 oz tomato paste
  • 1
    bay leaf
  • 1 Tbsp
    packed brown sugar
  • 4
    garlic cloves, minced
  • 1-2 tsp
    dried basil
  • 1-2 tsp
    dried oregano
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2-1 tsp
    dried thyme

How To Make slow-cooked spaghetti sauce

    In skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain.

    Transfer to a slow cooker. Add the remaining ingredients. Cover and cook on low for 7-8 hours or until well heated through.

    Discard bay leaf and serve over hot, cooked spaghetti of your choice!
