When I was little, my dad's best friend and his wife use to make this sauce when we went camping. I LOVED "the hotdog sauce". Sadly, they would not share the recipe with me. This is my attempt.

Ingredients For hotdog sauce

  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 1/4
    onion, minced
  • 1 can
    tomato paste (6 oz can)
  • 1/8 c
    brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    ketchup
  • 2 Tbsp
    bbq sauce
  • 2 Tbsp
    chili powder
  • 1 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp
    tabasco (or other hot sauce)

How To Make hotdog sauce

  • 1
    Food process onions. Put in non-stick pan cook for 3 minutes on medium high. Add ground beef and brown until no more pink. Make sure to break up beef as you brown.

    Combine tomato paste and rest of ingredients in a bowl. Whisk to combine.

    Put beef mixture in slow cooker, mix in tomato mixture and cook on low for 6-8 hrs.
