I tried a store-bought product and thought, "This has moments of genius," so I immediately made my own imitation. After working with it for a while and soliciting the advice, help and penmanship of my eight-year-old daughter, we believe we manufactured a spicy, smoky, full-bodied and versatile marinade for pork or beef. It's a family favorite.

How to Make Humzinger Beef and Pork Marinade

Step-by-Step

  1. Add ingredients to bowl and whisk until smooth.
  2. For best results, rest for 4 hours to allow mustard seed to soften.
  3. Marinate pork chops, whole pork loin for 2 hours to overnight. Marinate steaks 1-2 hours or bottle and shake over steaks as they cook on the grill. Set aside a small amount before letting it come into contact with raw meat.
  4. As meat nears desired doneness take some unused marinade and drizzle the meat.
  5. Cook a few more minutes and serve.
