We love this marinade. I created it when I was craving something different for salmon. The recipe, as listed, is enough to marinate four or five large salmon portions, chicken breasts or pork chops.

Ingredients For oriental-style marinade

  • 1/4 c
    agave syrup, maple syrup or corn syrup
  • 4 tsp
    soy sauce
  • 1 tsp
    chinese five spice powder
  • 8 drops
    liquid smoke flavoring
  • 1/4 tsp
    oyster sauce
  • 1/2 Tbsp
    finely minced crystallized ginger
  • 1 tsp
    fresh garlic, finely minced or pressed
  • 1/4 tsp
    sesame oil
  • 1 Tbsp
    vegetable oil
  • 1/2 Tbsp
    sesame seeds (optional)

How To Make oriental-style marinade

  • 1
    Mix all ingredients together in gallon size zipper food bag.

    Add chicken, salmon, pork etc...
  • 3
    Zip bag closed; shake to coat meat thoroughly.

    Let meat marinate for minimum of 15 minutes before cooking (up to overnight for pork, beef and venison, refrigerated.)
  • 5
    Leftover marinade may be used as a sauce ONLY when heated to boiling (to destroy any possible bacterial contamination from raw meat) or poured over the meat before baking.

    Recipe may be multiplied.
