Ingredients

  • 1 can(s)
    pitted dark sweet cherries
  • 2 Tbsp
    cornstarch
  • 1 Tbsp
    mustard
  • 1 Tbsp
    molasses
  • ·
    tabasco (few drops)
  • ·
    salt (dash)
  • 3 Tbsp
    lemon juice

How to Make Dark Cherry Sauce

Step-by-Step

  1. Drain syrup from cherries into a 2-cup measure; add water to make 1-1/2 cups. (Save cherries for Step 3.)
  2. In a small pan, blend a few tablespoons cherry syrup into cornstarch until smooth; stir in remaining syrup, mustard, molasses, tabasco and salt. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils 3 minutes.
  3. Stir in cherries and lemon juice; heat slowly just until bubbly.
  4. Serve sauce over chicken...
  5. or with biscuits.
