blackberry sauce

I adopted this orphaned recipe and then adapted it to use on some pork steaks. Yummy!

Ingredients For blackberry sauce

  • 1 lb
    blackberries
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1 Tbsp
    lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1 Tbsp
    soy sauce, low sodium
  • 1/2 c
    red wine vinegar
  • 1/2 sm
    onion, chopped

How To Make blackberry sauce

  • 1
    In a medium saucepan, melt butter. Add onoins and cook until softened. Add sugar, lemon juice and berries and simmer until they release their juices.

    Add red wine vinegar and soy sauce. Simmer for an additional 10-15 minutes.

    Remove from the heat, place in a food processor or blender and blend until smooth. Pass through a strainer if seeds are not desired.

    Can be frozen for up to 1 year and makes 1 cup--serve this with duck, pork, chicken.
