Mom used to make this with a box of frozen sliced strawberries but I prefer fresh. It is very versatile and can be used to top cake, ice cream, pudding, yogurt, in parfaits, etc.

Ingredients For banana split topping

  • 8 oz
    can crushed pineapple in juice, drained (reserve juice)
  • 2 Tbsp
    reserved pineapple juice
  • 2 c
    sliced fresh strawberries
  • 2 Tbsp
    sugar (if needed for berries or use equivalent artificial sweetener)
  • 2 md
    bananas, peeled and diced

How To Make banana split topping

  • 1
    Drain pineapple, reserving 2 tablespoons juice.
  • 2
    Slice strawberries and add sugar or artificial sweetener if needed.
  • 3
    Combine berries, bananas, pineapple and juice and mix well.

    Use as a topping over ice cream, pound cake, angel food cake, pudding, yogurt, in parfaits, etc. May also add a little chocolate sauce, whipped cream, nuts and a cherry for a full banana split experience.
