My fiance is getting his wisdom teeth pulled and we have left over apples from apple picking - it seemed like a good way to make something delicious and soothing while he is recovering...and a great way to finish up the apples!

Ingredients For applesauce

  • 5
    apples (cortland or macintosh are best)
  • 3/4 c
    water
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp
    pumpkin pie spices
  • 3 Tbsp
    almond meal
  • 1 Tbsp
    brown sugar

How To Make applesauce

  • 1
    Peel, core, and dice apples.
  • 2
    Place water, apples, 1/4 cup of sugar and cinnamon in a medium pan. Stir and heat, covered, on medium heat.

    Cook apples until they are soft, about 15 minutes
  • 4
    Remove from heat. Mash apples with a potato masher (or a big spoon). It will be a little runny.

    Add the almond meal and remaining brown sugar. Mix well. Allow to cool. I store mine in a jar.
