The first time I made this I couldn't believe how incredibly simple it was. This recipe hit the nail on the head and the avocado flavor really shines.

Blue Ribbon Recipe

Guacamole is a quick and easy snack that can be made in no time. Tomato and jalapenos add a bit of texture to the creamy avocado. Fran's version uses lemon juice which adds acidity and is not as tart as more traditional lime juice. Have lots of tortilla chips handy... this killer guacamole recipe won't last long. We ate all of it within an hour.

Test Kitchen Tips
Since lemons are not the same size, we recommend starting with the juice of 1 lemon. More can be added if needed.
  • Halve avocados and remove pits.
    1
Halve the avocados and remove the pits, but set them aside.
  • Chopped avocados and jalapenos in a bowl.
    2
Remove from the skin with a big spoon and very coarsely chop the avocado into big pieces. Place chopped avocado and minced jalapeno in a medium bowl.
  • Pouring lemon juice over the avocados.
    3
Squeeze the lemon juice over the mixture.
  • Seasoning with garlic salt.
    4
Sprinkle liberally with garlic salt adjusting to your taste.
  • Gently mashing avocados.
    5
Stir, gently mashing some of the avocado pieces.
  • Chopped tomatoes stirred in.
    6
Add chopped tomato at the end, stirring just until combined.
  • Avocado pits added to the bowl.
    7
Add 2 of the avocado pits back into the bowl (this really helps keep guacamole from turning brown). Serve chilled.
  • Adding cayenne pepper to the guacamole.
    8
If desired, add extra cayenne or jalapenos for more kick. You can add more lemon juice if you like a little more tartness too.
